Within southern Mali, the Syama belt constitutes a linear major structure-oriented N-S, which host several gold deposits (e.g., and Tabakoroni) prospect areas (e.g. Tellem). The Belt is formed by magmatic rocks (basalts, lamprophyres, andesites, dacites microgranites); sedimentary (shales) volcano-sedimentary (pyroclastics). are divided into two main volcanic series: tholeiitic affinity (basalts lamprophyres) calc-alkaline (andesites) that most evolved. field relationships between of these series suggest younger series. These present Mid-Ocean Ridge Basalt (MORB) whereas would be linked to an island arc-type. This coexistence not isolated case within West African Craton (WAC). Otherwise, has all characteristics other belts, number developed, in WAC.
